TRIBUTE TO PILOT AND WRITER ANTOINE DE SAINT
EXUPERY
In
this spirit, ESPACE SAINT EXUPERY presents for the first
time in Singapore a series of exclusive events, under the
distinguished patronage of Mrs Michèle ALLIOT-MARIE,
French Minister of Defence, centred on the theme of “the
conquest of the skies and space” to introduce Singaporeans,
foreign residents and the public of the Asian Aerospace
show to the adventure of aeronautics and space.
These events, which will begin during the Asian Aerospace
Show, allow an original and novel look into the excellence
and know-how of the civil and military aeronautical and
spatial industry, thanks to the participation of talented
French artists, including the aeronautical photographer
Alain ERNOULT and the sculptor Jean-Marc de PAS, “official
artist of air and space”, recognised by the Ministry
of Defence.
This initiative has received the official support of the
Singaporean Ambassador in France, and the Singaporean authorities
have shown a lively interest for this operation which will
contribute to the strengthening of ties between our two
countries. The French Embassy in Singapore also supports
this action.
The French Air Force, which will celebrate its 70th anniversary
this year, is also associated with this event which will
pay particular homage to the pilot, fighter, writer and
poet, Antoine de Saint Exupéry, known throughout
the world as the author and illustrator of “The Little
Prince”, on the occasion of celebrations commemorating
his disappearance.
Mr. Francois d’AGAY, nephew and godson of Saint Exupéry,
will visit Singapore as the guest-of-honour of these events
and as the spokesperson of the succession Saint Exupéry
- d’AGAY.
Inspired by past heritage to better project itself into
the future, the goal of this project is to reveal a certain
image of aviation history and its leading industry by sharing,
for the first time in Singapore, experiences and emotions
around the message and values left by the actors of the
conquest of the skies and space.
This original project will have a particularly important
impact on the public and media during the course of the
aeronautic show which received more than 60,000 visitors
and 120 foreign delegations from 38 countries in 2002.
