A new edition of Terre des hommes illustrated by Riad Sattouf will be released on October 2

1, Sep, 2025

In October 2025, an exceptional edition of Terre des hommes by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry will be published, enriched with 150 previously unseen illustrations by Riad Sattouf.

First published in 1939 and winner of the Grand Prix of the Académie Française, this work takes readers into the adventure of the pioneers of Aéropostale: night flights over the ocean, perilous crossings of the Andes, the solitude of the desert, the camaraderie of pilots, encounters between civilizations… Far beyond an aviation story, Terre des hommes is a meditation on friendship, responsibility, and the human condition.

A contemporary perspective on a timeless text

"I hope to add my small stone to the Saint-Exupéry myth: to allow a new generation of readers to discover this magnificent text, full of human adventures and emotions – so that it may also inspire them to live with their hearts beating!" – Riad Sattouf

A passionate reader since his teenage years, Riad Sattouf – author of The Arab of the Future and The Esther's Notebooks – wanted to bring this foundational text to life through his art. His illustrations, both sensitive and powerful, with a touch of subtle humor, offer a new gateway into Saint-Exupéry's universe and allow today’s generations to rediscover this luminous work.

To mark this special release, an exhibition will be held at the Galerie Gallimard from October to December 2025.
